By collaborating with local authorities, academy trusts, established sustainability organisations and green employers, SMS will provide leadership and support at no cost to qualifying schools by recruiting, training and supervising a network of Sustainability Managers to implement monitored programmes to progress towards net zero.

Seeing is believing, so SMS will track the progress of participating schools through carbon footprinting and survey data. As a result, along the way, all stakeholders will learn what does and doesn’t work in taking the education sector on the path to net zero.

In 2024/25, SMS is working with three schools in the London Borough of Ealing.
